How transfer files to pi using wired ethernet?

I have installed noobs/raspbian OS on to pi.
I require to transfer files from a network (using wired ethernet)?
Do I just need to plug in ethernet cable and then connect to
remote host to copy files? Will the pi have an ip address assigned?
can this ip address be changed?
Do I use ftp/ssh/putty to transfer files? Are these installed as
part of raspbian?
I didn’t find the right solution from the internet.
